Cindi al-Sheehani just can’t let go of her 15 minutes:
Sheehan: I will beat Speaker Pelosi
By Jeremy Jacobs
July 24, 2007
If Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) refuses to bring articles of impeachment against President Bush to the floor of the House, anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan said Monday, Sheehan not only will challenge the Speaker in the next election but also will defeat her.
Discussing President Bush and Vice President Cheney, Sheehan said, “We put them there. We can fire them. If Nancy Pelosi doesn’t do her constitutionally mandated job by midnight tonight, tomorrow I will announce that I’m going to run against her.
“And not only am I going to run against her, but I will beat her,” Sheehan added.
A spokesman for Pelosi, Nadeam Elshami, said the Speaker and House Democrats are working toward their goals this Congress and would not address Sheehan’s proclamation.
“The Speaker and House Democrats are focused on ending the war in Iraq, holding the Bush administration accountable and delivering a new direction for the American people,” Elshami said. “Those are the priorities of the Speaker and the Democrats.”
Sheehan seized the anti-war spotlight during her extended protest outside the president’s ranch in Crawford, Texas in 2005, after her 24-year-old son, Casey, was killed in Iraq. Speaking at a demonstration at Arlington National Cemetery,
Sheehan argued that it is Pelosi’s constitutional obligation to impeach the president.
“The administration has abused our soldiers. They’ve abused our freedoms,” Sheehan said. “They have killed my son and countless others. And they must be held accountable.
“Impeachment is not a fringe movement. It is mandated in our Constitution. Nancy Pelosi had no authority to take it off the table,” Sheehan said.
Now that would be a real entertaining side-splitter; two of the country’s biggest losers seeing who can out- shrill the other.
She and 45 of her clucking sychophants got arrested:
Sheehan was taken into custody inside Rep. John Conyers’ office, where she had spent an hour imploring him to launch impeachment proceedings against Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. Conyers, D-Mich., chairs the House Judiciary Committee, where any impeachment effort would have to begin.
Sheehan and about 200 other protesters had walked to Conyers’ office from Arlington National Cemetery. She said Conyers told her there weren’t enough votes for impeachment to move forward on the issue.
She throws the Constitution into every statement, pretending that she actually knows what’s in it. As for accountability for the GWOT, she can take her Code Pink pals and hold a protest in front of the nearest Mosque.
Apparently her message isn’t going over too well, even among the staunchest Bush haters. When you get rejected by a moonbat like Conyers and disowned by the unhinged nutroots at DailyKos, your status as a leftwing darling takes a serious nosedive.
While she’s still beating the drum about her son, take a look at the facts:
It’s an all volunteer military. Casey Sheehan served with honor and bravery; a testament to being a Soldier.
From Martha Raddatz’s book, The Long Road Home”:
“Everyone knows that Casey volunteered for the mission that April 4, 2004,” said Pat Sheehan, (Casey’s father) a 53-year-old Vacaville resident.
“Casey’s commander needed soldiers who could administer first aid and use their weapons well. (So Casey) picked up his Kevlar (vest) and grabbed his M-16 (rifle) and hurried off to the vehicle staging area.”
But when Sheehan, 24, jumped on the back of the truck, the sergeant said he was taking only six soldiers so they’d have more room for returning wounded, Pat Sheehan said. Sheehan jumped off the truck. He took a step away, turned back and pointed at a private. “I’ll take his spot,” Pat Sheehan recounted his son saying.
Fifteen minutes later, Sheehan was mortally wounded. “Finding out that he was turned away and then pretty much pulled rank and insisted that he was going, it just showed me that that this wasn’t some random act,” Pat Sheehan said.
“He knew full well what he was doing and it was an adult decision made by an adult. And I think that’s honorable. “But it wasn’t just about his country or freedom for Iraq. At that time it was as simple as helping his fellow soldiers and helping someone else in need,” he said.
Army Specialist Casey Sheehan possessed more character, and his father, more class than Cindy’s crippled mind can grasp. Instead of honoring her brave son’s sacrifice, she prostitutes his memory to the lunatic fringe and makes a complete ass of herself. Congratulations , Cindy. You’re now officially on the “D List”.
