Some Feel Good Stories of the Year

Gawd knows there’s enough bad shit going on caused by monsters disguised as humans, but it’s nice to read and reflect about some of the good things that happen.

October 23, 2011 8:13 AM

Sometimes, taking a wrong turn can change your life. That’s exactly what happened to Luma Mufleh one day while getting lost on her way home stumbling upon a group of refugee children living in a suburb of Atlanta. Mark Strassmann reports on how she’s lending a helping hand.

That is the definition of a love story.

From WYFF. Clerk punches out would-be robber.

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. — A clerk at a business in Western North Carolina punched a would-be robber and knocked him out cold just minutes after the man barged in with a gun and demanded money.

It happened about 15 minutes before closing time Friday night at We Buy Gold store in Hendersonville.

“When he came through the door he told me had a gun and he even flashed it,” said Derek Mothershead. “I stood up and threw my hands up and said, ‘Take the money.’”

Mothershead said the man came behind the counter with a bag.

“I got the money and he had the bag out and instead of putting it in the bag I stuck it out and said, ‘Just take it.’ So, when he reached out, I took a step in, I cocked back and preloaded and I hit him hard,” Mothershead told News 4’s Mike McCormick.

The punch knocked out the would-be thief. Mothershead was able to grab the man’s weapon and realized it was a pellet gun.

“When I pulled it out of his waistband I started laughing,” said Mothershead. “I said, ‘Man, you came in here with a fake gun?'”

Mothershead said he dragged the man over to a desk and held him down with one hand and called 911 with the other.

The man, later identified as Mostafa Hendi, eventually regained consciousness.

The muzzie who fucked with the wrong American:

Any time a would-be thieving thug who’s a muzzie to boot, gets the shit knocked out of him by someone who refuses to be a victim, it’s a feel good story. Maybe after he’s done doing his jail time, they’ll deport his ass back to the Middle East.

Bystanders in Utah lift burning car off of an accident victim:

A 21-year old motorcyclist who collided with a BMW on the campus of Utah State University was lying unconscious beneath the burning wreckage when bystanders rushed to help.

Workers at a nearby construction site began to lift the car along with students, while a professor shot the scene on his camera phone from an upper window of a building.

Rescuers thought the man had already died, while arrived at the scene with fire extinguishers.

New leukemia therapy destroys cancer by turning blood cells into “assassins”.

A new leukemia treatment has experts buzzing over a possible cure that may one day change cancer treatment forever.

How does it work? According to experts, the treatment is a gene therapy that turns a patient’s own blood cells into assassins that tracks down and destroys cancer cells.

They’ve only tested it in three patients so far, but the results were noteworthy. Two patients appear cancer-free a year after treatment, and the third patient still has some cancer but is improved.

“It worked great,” said study author Dr. Carl June, professor of pathology and laboratory medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. “We were surprised it worked as well as it did.”
