Bill Press, windbag extraordinaire, hates the Star Spangled Banner.
“It is a major crusade of mine and that is to get rid of the Star-Spangled Banner. Now I know you’re going to say I am not a true American I’m not patriotic. I don’t think patriotism has anything to do with it. The National Anthem is just absolutely monumentally un-singable. I mean there’s so much wrong with it. I don’t know where to start,” liberal radio talk show host Bill Press said on his nationally syndicated program today.
“It’s an abomination. First it ranges two octaves most people can only do kind of one octave. I mean when you think about it, it’s bombs bursting in air rocket’s red glare it all kinds of, you know a lot of national anthems are that way, all kinds of military jargon and the land there’s only one phrase ‘the land of the free’ which is kind of nice and ‘the home of the brave?’ I don’t know,” he said. “Are we [Americans] the only ones who are brave on the planet? I mean all the brave people live here. I mean it’s just stupid I think. I’m embarrassed, I’m embarrassed every time I hear it.”
Octave range aside, there’s nothing like a stupid embarrassing liberal whining about how much they abhor the national anthem because they think it’s jingoistic, riddled with ‘military jargon’, and mentions the bravery of those who defend what our flag represents.

How aboout all those of you, who are soooo.. offended by the National Anthem, the Flag and everything else under the sun when it comes to exalting our Nation’s Glory denounce to your nationality and become a citizen of England or China etc., far, far away so you will never again have to subject yourself to this kind of suffering and embarrassment and let the rest of us “suffer” in peace. The point is, any song that justifies America’s exceptionalism with any hint of patriotism, is looked on with abject horror from the left. I’ll say this, there are people who sing it well, and regardless of Whitney Houston’s personal problems, she did a hell of a job singing it at Super Bowl XXV. I dare anyone to compare her soulful rendition with that of other singers. Most people start out at a lower octave and can handle it just fine.
In any case, nutsacks like Bill Press hate the country, the military, and any vestiges of national pride. We get it. He can take his critique and ram it up his ass. I’m sure there’s plenty of room.
