Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss is using discretion and the resident lefties at the network don’t like it.
A rogue CBS News correspondent has accused network editor-in-chief Bari Weiss of purposefully spiking a story for “political” reasons.
The network was set to air a “60 Minutes” segment this Sunday about the illegal criminal alien men who were deported to a maximum-security prison in El Salvador last spring, according to The Wall Street Journal.
But at the last minute, only three hours before the segment’s scheduled air time, Weiss suddenly cancelled it, arguing that the story lacked “sufficient context” and needed numerous changes to be made.
This decision angered “60 Minutes” correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi, who fired back with an email to her colleagues on Sunday. Alfonsi has previously been accused of harboring political bias.
Harboring political bias? Main stream media is saturated with it.
……..According to Weiss, Alfonsi’s complaints are invalid.
“My job is to make sure that all stories we publish are the best they can be,” she said in a statement reported by the Journal.
“Holding stories that aren’t ready for whatever reason—that they lack sufficient context, say, or that they are missing critical voices—happens every day in every newsroom. I look forward to airing this important piece when it’s ready,” she added.
A CBS News spokesperson also defended Weiss’ decision, saying, “The 60 Minutes report on Inside CECOT will air in a future broadcast. We determined it needed additional reporting.”
’60 Minutes’ is a leftwing platform labeled as “reporting”.

Weiss sent out a memo that suggested journalists do their job of verifying sources and using proper context. The lefties are losing their minds.

Sounds reasonable.
The response from the unhinged lefties:
Bari Weiss is a deeply evil woman and an even worse EiC. https://t.co/0U44SiXy9K

She just wants her reporters to track down credible sources and start being responsible for content. Which is “evil”.

Removing Tren de Aragua and MS13 cutthroats from our country and sending them to their own country to be put in a tough prison where they belong is fascist. Yeah.
It’s the same kind of entitlement that the hard-left progressives and communists infesting the federal bureaucracy have: It doesn’t matter who the president is, it doesn’t matter what his policies are, it doesn’t matter if America voted for those policies — they’re the ones in charge. They own the place. Leftists are appointed by Nature to rule over all other men.
And the staffers, employees, and underlings at CBS “news” don’t care that their leftwing agitprop business model has failed so badly that their corporations are being sold out from under them at a deep discount. Bari Weiss’s position as Editor in Chief doesn’t matter — they are entitled to run the show.
“CBS News Editor in Chief Bari Weiss defended her decision to pull a controversial “60 Minutes” segment on an El Salvador prison, telling staff Monday the piece “wasn’t ready” and needed more reporting — pushing back on accusations that the last-minute move was politically motivated.
Weiss addressed the backlash during a network-wide editorial call, saying she held the segment because “we simply need to do more,” according to a recording reviewed by the Wall Street Journal.
“I held a ’60 Minutes’ story and I held that story because it wasn’t ready,” Weiss told CBS News staffers on Monday. When reached by The Post, CBS News confirmed the accuracy of the Journal’s reporting.
Weiss said the story “has already been reported on by places like the [New York] Times, the public knows that Venezuelans have been subjected to horrific treatment in this prison. So to run a story on this subject, two months later, we simply need to do more.”
She said the only newsroom she wants to run is one where editors can have “contentious disagreements” while assuming “the best intent” of colleagues — an implicit criticism of “60 Minutes” correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi.
“The only newsroom that I’m interested in running is one where we are able to have contentious disagreements about the thorniest editorial matters and do so with respect and crucially where we assume the best intent of our colleagues,” Weiss said on the editorial call on Monday.
Alfonsi blasted the decision in a Sunday email to top correspondents, writing that she learned just a day earlier that Weiss had “spiked our story” and arguing the move was political, not editorial.”
That’s a laugh. Every story 60 Minutes runs — or chooses not to run — is political. They did no stories on Biden’s mental decline, for example, nor any negative stories on Obama, Biden, or Hillary Clinton.
But they choose to run hit-piece after hit-piece on Trump.
These are choices, and they’re animated by political animus. But they insist that they have access to an Objective Holy Standard of Newsworthiness that you wouldn’t understand — and neither would professional journalist Bari Weiss.
Your facts are opinions, their opinions are facts.
Just like your speech is violence, and their violence is speech.
Illegals, gang bangers, and child traffickers from foreign countries are being sent home.
The most violent criminals in El Salvador are kept in a mega-prison (CECOT) where they are kept under strict conditions.
Bukele isn’t fucking around. El Salvador is a safer place.

The Libs are having grand mal seizures over the mass deportations. They’re posting ugly cry videos and comparing the deportations to—wait for it—the holocaust. Tough shit. They have no such sympathy for the victims of illegal alien assaults, rapes, theft, murder of children, and the drunk unlicensed illegals who kill people while driving.
Biden’s open border disaster allowed thousands of illegals to invade the country.
Dems don’t want a secure border. The more criminals, MS13 gangs, and future welfare recipients flood in, the better.
Not to mention the Islamic terrorists.
The U.S. has the right to control who enters the country. There is no Constitutional or legal right for a foreigner to enter the U.S. It’s a privilege.
