24 year-old Scott Olsen, who got a less than honorable discharge from the marines, was seriously injured by a flying tear gas canister during an ‘Occupy Oakland’ riot. As of today, his condition was upgraded from critical to fair. In the meantime, the ‘Occupy’ idiots gleefully exploited this as the “brutal and vicious” treatment of protesters. As a matter of fact, there’s been considerable brutality and viciousness from the ‘Occupy’ protesters toward reporters, cops, and each other.
Newsflash, ‘Occupy’ fucktards: you own this disaster.
I’m a retired Army Sergeant First Class and I did two tours in Iraq. Most veterans I know think you’re a bunch of miserable losers with no legitimate right to breathe oxygen. Don’t even try to lump the majority of the military in with your neo-Bolshevik clusterfuck.
The bleeding hearts had better do some research on this punk before they defend him as some kind of martyr. First of all, he chose to hang around with the violence-prone “Occupy” movement whose ranks are chock full of communists, nazis, anarchists, and felons.
No wonder the Dems and Obama embrace them.
Their goal is to overthrow our Democratic Republic. And they riot. Not very “peaceful”. They were rioting at the time he was injured. Too bad.
Here’s a background on Olsen. Hat Tip to Verum Serum
Olsen has a site: I hate the marine corps, where he professed his true feelings for the marines.

I often ignored “moto nicknames” and would assume in my head that whoever said it was probably talking about someone else – (i’m not a hard charger, must have me confused for someone else)
I was talking to my 1stsgt regarding a pending adsep since i had been accused of using cocaine. Anyway, when we were done talking, he used as a parting greeting “stay marine”. He clearly didn’t think that one through. It was no secret that I couldn’t wait to get out and on top of that, the MC was trying to kick me out. I was going to bust his balls over it, but I went and took a nap instead.

IT’S AN ALL VOLUNTEER FORCE. Don’t like it? Un-ass what ever branch you’re in and shut the fuck up. Olsen was a problem child. How convenient of the cream puff to hop on the ‘Occupy’ bandwagon. I’m sick of Leftards and disgruntled IVAW pukes teaming up to piss, moan, and complain over the consequences of their stupidity and bad behavior.
I can hardly wait until the ex-military malcontent recovers enough to serve as a “survivor of the great ‘Occupy’ class war”.

Wow, some the most IGNORANT comments I have read as of today. You mist have agreed with the Vietnam War as well. I commend anyone joining our armed forces and know many people who have made such a noble choice. I-disagree with the “wars” we are currently are involved in. It’s a business. It’s propaganda. Bush Jr. lied to our country. Bush and his cronies should have been charged with war crimess
It sounds like you watch fox news and don’t mind their “spin” they or unfactual reporting. It sounds like your a blazing republican….who are known for deserting their own left and right for not having the same party ideals and thoughts.
More importantly, I know you completely forgot what this country was founded on. Pick up a book instead of newspaper or watching a Rupert Murdoch owned company cause you sound like a tool!
Paul,
Wow. Some ignorant MSNBC tool just popped up to infect this thread with his libtard naivete. Here, I’ll even repeat this part of my post to clarify things:
You ought to familiarize yourself with Olsen’s background and behavior, which was also pointed out in my post, before you regurgitate your Keith Olbermann talking points.
If you can tear yourself away from MSNBC for awhile, you may find OWS is nothing more than a bunch of communist/anarchist punks with no real purpose in life except to cause as much crime and damage as possible to support their anti-capitalist bullshit.
Iraq is the bane of intellectually bankrupt leftwingnuts who opposed any effort to rid the planet of a WMD-weilding megalomaniac. Iraq’s involvement in sponsoring terrorism, violating U.N. resolutions, and engaging in WMD production, is well documented. Even though Saddam was not directly involved in the 9/11 attacks themselves, he had WMDs, a WMD program, and connections to terrorists. I’m damned glad we got the son-of-a-bitch. Saddam Hussein had WMD material, a WMD program, and terrorist connections. I still cannot discuss classified information, but there’s plenty of open source reports to substantiate his violations and intent.
1) Declassified NGIC report:

2) 1.77 metric tons of enriched uranium:

3) 1,500 gallons of chemical weapons agents:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/08/13/AR2005081300530.html
4) Looting of WMD facilities:
In the weeks after Baghdad fell in April 2003, looters systematically dismantled and removed tons of machinery from Saddam Hussein’s most important weapons installations, including some with high-precision equipment capable of making parts for nuclear arms, a senior Iraqi official said this week in the government’s first extensive comments on the looting.

The UN admitted that Iraq had over six tons of anthrax, most of it weaponized, right up until the invasion.

Those weapons were previously unknown to U.N. inspectors; they were concealed. Those are weapons and materials Hussein was not supposed to possess, yet he did.

When assclown Julian Assange (WikiLeaks) leaked thousands of classified documents with the intent to damage the war effort, he inadvertently included information that proved we continued to find WMD materials long after the invasion.

Afghanistan, of course, was the major operating base for Bin Laden and his Al Qaeda thugs. We fought in Iraq and Afghanistan for all the right reasons.
In case you forgot, muslims attacked this country and murdered almost 3000 people. Their avowed goal is domination of the West, through terrorism.
We are retaliating against a violent, ruthless, brutal Islamic culture that uses bombs, beheadings, stonings, and planes full of innocent people, to spread their message of “peace”. That message was proscribed by a frothing zealot in the 7th Century and they’ve been following his instructions ever since. Last I checked, they brought their “holy war” to us. We killed a lot of them and as far as I’m concerned, we haven’t gone far enough. I won’t apologize for it, either.
On 12 September 2001, I’d have leveled 3/4ths of the Middle East. Terrorists are bred, funded, indoctrinated, supported, and trained throughout that Islamic cesspool. I’d have started with all the capitals: Baghdad, Damascus, Kabul, Riyadh, Tehran, Islamabad, Amman, all of them. I’d have used MOABs and probably neutron bombs; a beautiful surgical weapon that delivers a high concentration of radiation to kill people but leaves structures intact. The radiation disspates quickly, thus making it safer for ground troop invasion. I’d have sent in the Army to finish off whatever and whoever was left.
That’s what I’d have done. They want a jihad, give ‘em one. But, I’m a former Soldier not a politician.
When it comes to Constitutional violations, Obama and his Dem pals have all but shredded the document since he was elected. Maybe you ought to read it yourself, sometime.
Tell you what, Paul. If you ever extract your head from your ass long enough to make a coherent comment, sans the leftwingnut crap, come on back. Until then, take yourself and your Chris Matthews meme back under your rock.
Tool.

A few more stories are reporting his “Administrative Discharge” now…quoting his uncle.

Loved your comments, sfcmac. Couldn’t agree more. It was so gratifying to hear that the young man was given a BCD. A doper it appears who should never been enlisted in the first place. Remarkable he made through basic training but, hey even Marines make mistakes.
Keep it up. You are saying what many of us are feeling.
Onclewillie, former Marine and Vietnam combat veteran
@Alan Kurtz, It’s a small Marine Corps. It’s not hard to figure out. I know Marines who’ve served with him also, and he was admin separated for drug usage. There are plenty of clues. He was in a Comm unit, that’s a 5 year MOS. Most 5 year Marines Honorably Discharge their 5th year as an E-5, which is a Sergeant, at least an E-4 as a Corporal. Mr. Olsen left the Marine Corps as an E-3, Lance Corporal which is definitely evidence he was no good cookie. This is published everywhere. This would explain his ihatethemarinecorps stance; he probably hates the corps not because he stands for anything in particular, but mostly because he’s a bitter about his separation. It’s pretty convenient he was at a RIOT that was throwing rocks and bottles at police officers, even described by his roommate on CNN as throwing paint at the police. That doesn’t sound like any peaceful protest I’ve ever heard of. John has it right about his 8 year commitment, it doesn’t look like he’s in the Inactive Ready Reserves which would’ve been part of his contract (which also be why he would wear his uniform to a protest). Only other service members have that access to look it up. His Navy Achievement Medal he was awarded which is part of every OWS story online, was awarded to his entire unit, which means, somebody put the unit in for one and everybody got one. From knowing other 3/4 Marines, everybody got one; it doesn’t mean he did something in his own right to receive it. The reason why there is no evidence to support it, is because military records are confidential and the media knows this. They’re just going off of what his roommate says, because he served with him. Like with John Kerry, we will never see anything published to show his true military record, that he’s a cruddy EX-marine and it’s going to end up being a hear/say type of thing (other than Olsen’s own self incrimination online about his drug habit and all the other clues about his service record). If you google Scott Olsen Cocaine there are articles speaking of the “right” smearing the veteran. This is no smear campaign, and it’s definitely not out in the mainstream media at all. Part of the reason Scott Olsen’s story is so huge is because they’re flaunting his service record….but only the part that makes him look like an upstanding citizen, honorably discharged veteran, which not only a half truth but a flat out lie.
He did NOT receive an honorable discharge. He does not have “seven medals.” He has seven awards (some medals and some ribbons), which are standard for anyone who has served on active duty and deployed to Iraq: National Defense, Sea Service Deployment, GWOT Service, Iraq Campaign, and either an GWOT Expeditionary or Combat Action Ribbon, plus a Navy Achievement Medal. Standard fare for any Marine in an H&S Co who deployed during that period.
He joined when he was 17. That would be for an 8 year commitment; 4 active, 4 IRR. He SHOULD be in the IRR now, and listed on Marine Online as “reservist.” However, he is not in MOL, because he is not in the IRR. He is OUT of the Marine Corps, and was separated under less than honorable conditions.
I have 3 combat deployments to Iraq and 3 to Afghanistan. I am Marine Corps Infantry. His service and status as a “vet” does not give him carte blanche to bash his service and wear the uniform to a protest. He joined a Marxist Mob, and the inevitable results ensued.
Every Marine I know, including some who served with him thinks that he is a disgruntled scumbag and sh*tty Marine. The Left doesn’t see this, because they rarely serve, and apparently only associate with those Marines that are deemed “Less than Honorable”….
John,
See my response to Bill. I basically said the same thing. I had a strong hunch Olsen got a less-than-honorable. Thanks for confirming what most vets already sensed about this kid.
SFC MAC
Here are the TRUE FACTS…
Scott Olsen was awarded SEVEN medals while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, which he left as a lance corporal in November 2009 after serving for four years and TWO tours of duty. One of them was the Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
The Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal:
When Awarded For Professional Achievement
“The act or service must clearly exceed that which is normally required or expected, considering the individual’s grade or rate, training, and experience; and it must be an important contribution of benefit to the United States and the naval service.”
Scott Olsen received an HONORABLE discharge from the Marines. SEMPER FI
Bill,
According to Olsen’s own statements, he was getting out on an administrative discharge. (a “chapter”) Considering his peurile behavior while on active on duty and the reaction of the chain of command, I don’t think he got the discharge you claim. I’ll dig around and verify. Aside from that, you’d think he’d be smart enough not to hook up with a violent communist/anarchist group of moonbats. Unless he shares their mindset.
PS: See John’s comment.

SFC MAC, there’s a link missing from your first sentence. Please, what is your source for saying that Olsen “got a less than honorable discharge from the marines?” I’m not disputing this, but I haven’t seen any documentation one way or the other. Have you?
Also, your link in ¶7 to I hate the marine corps, “where he professed his true feelings for the marines,” provides no examples of Olsen professing anything. Rather, it shows comments by “Guest” (and others), such as you reproduce under “this little gem.”
Again, I’m not picking nits. I’d honestly like to understand the reality. But I’m not seeing enough evidence to support you.
Alan,
According to Olsen’s own statements, he was getting out on an administrative separation/discharge. (a “Chapter”) Considering his behavior while on active on duty and the reaction of the chain of command, I don’t think he got an honorable discharge. I’ll dig around and verify.
It’s him.
