Shamnesty Rears its Ugly Head Again

In another attempt to sidestep the will of American citizens and the law, Dick Durbin has revived his “DREAM Act”.  It’s being snuck in on the tails of the new Defense Appropriations bill as a rider.

The DREAM ACT, or the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act, was added as a “compromise” to the failed (sh)amnesty bill that the Democrats tried to push through in June.

The measure would give illegals who entered this country before age 16, a free, no consequence pass.  I guess that also includes the ‘anchor babies’ dropped by female illegal aliens on this soil, as an end-around the deportation laws.

A Washington Times editorial points out:

“The illegal alien who applies for this amnesty is immediately rewarded with ‘conditional’ lawful permanent resident (green card) status, which can be converted to a non-conditional green card in short order,” Kris Kobach, a law professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, noted in a Heritage Foundation paper. “The alien can then use his newly acquired status to seek green cards for his parents who brought him in illegally in the first place. In this way, it is a backdoor amnesty for the millions of illegal aliens who brought their children to the United States.”

The DREAM Act would repeal a 1996 law — the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act — which included a provision barring any state from offering discounted tuition to illegals unless it provided the same tuition discount to all U.S. citizens. But 10 states (California, Illinois, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah and Washington) currently grant reduced in-state tuition to illegals in violation of federal law. It would be difficult to exaggerate all of the perverse incentives in the DREAM Act, which provide illegals with better treatment than citizens and non-citizens who obey the law. Some states actually make breaking federal law a condition for receiving in-state tuition rates by denying in-state tuition to legal aliens with valid student visas. The laws also show contempt for law-abiding American citizens. For example, Mr. Kobach notes, “a student from Missouri who attends Kansas University who has already played by the rules and obeyed the law is charged three times the tuition charged to an alien whose very presence in the country is a violation of federal criminal law.”

According to this proposed travesty, any illegal alien can walk into a U.S. Customs and Immigration Services office and declare eligibility. In other words, after sneaking across the border and hiding out for 20 years, they can simply walk into their local neighborhood immigration office and claim they arrived when they were 15.  No proof required; the ICE is supposed to take them at their word.

A-fucking-mazing.

This little tactic on the part of the scofflaws and their supporters in our own government, universities, and among employers will not go without a fight.  I want to know just who in the hell these people think they are?  Elected officials are to uphold the law as well as ensure national security, border security, and the rights of citizens, not foreign invaders.  Employers are supposed to be held accountable for their hiring practices.  College administrators are supposed to be subject to the laws and regulations regarding legal admissions to their universities.  From what I’ve seen, felonies are being committed and condoned on a daily basis and no one is doing a god-damned thing about it.

Since felonies are no longer an issue, can I rob a bank, then call up the police and ask if i can keep the money?
