Health insurance company Aetna (AET) announced Wednesday it will completely withdraw from the ObamaCare marketplace in 2018, a decision Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price perceived as a sign of continued instability in the health care sector under the Affordable Care Act.
“Aetna’s decision to completely withdraw from the ObamaCare exchanges adds to the mountain of evidence that ObamaCare has failed the American people. Repealing and replacing it with patient-centered solutions that stabilize the marketplace to bring down costs and increase choices is the only solution,” Price said late Wednesday.
……“Our individual Commercial products lost nearly $700 million between 2014 and 2016, and are projected to lose more than $200 million in 2017 despite a significant reduction in membership. Those losses are the result of marketplace structural issues that have led to co-op failures and carrier exits, and subsequent risk pool deterioration,” the company said Wednesday.
The dismantling of ObamaCare is being achieved through the collapse of its own tyrannical corruption.
Obama’s “affordable care” clusterfuck includes middle class tax increases, death Panels, no freedom of choice for your own healthcare, and skyrocketing costs. Doctors are closing their doors. UnitedHealth, the nation’s largest health insurer, is exiting the individual insurance market, and Aetna warned customers of impending cost increases. Hawaii’s 205 million dollar ObamaCare system is folding.
Estimates for the nation-wide costs of ObamaCare will exceed $1.8 trillion annually, funds for pre-existing health conditions are no longer available, family premiums will increase by $3000, businesses are cutting employees’ wages and hours, and ending insurance for any new hires.
Unions, the leftwingnut media, and the Dems who held a majority in the House and Senate during the 2010 healthcare debate, pushed this oppressive monstrosity through the legislature. No one read the fucking bill. No one will take responsibility for consequences. Not the unions, the Dem politicians, or the morons in their voting districts who thought of it as another free benefit, like food stamps and their Obama phone. As reality sets in, the rats are jumping from the ship.
It was concocted by a belligerent Dem oligarchy, behind closed doors, away from the public. They never bothered to read Obama’s socialist Frankenstein before they rammed through the legislature. They chose instead to ‘pass it to see what was in it’.
Obamacare co-ops are collapsing across the country with major insurers dropping out in droves. United Health Group, Anthem, Humana, Aetna, and other healthcare providers are opting out completely or withdrawing from the states with the highest costs. The premiums for individuals and working families have increased astronomically,
According to the Fiscal Times, the 2017 Obamacare premiums in Arizona rose by 116%. Other states such as Nebraska, Pennsylvania, Alabama, Minnesota, Tennessee, and Oklahoma saw price increases of over 50%.
The Republicans submitted several good alternatives to ObamaCare, and every single one was dismissed by the Dems. They contain preventive health care, tax credits, reduction of fraud and abuse in existing federal health care programs, and tort reform.
