In his latest love letter “Obama’s Iraq Inheritance”, Thomas Friedman, a New York Times hack second only to Paul Krugman, discusses what Obama and the Democrats can do to ‘win Iraq’.
These are a sidesplitter:
……If Iraq can keep improving — still uncertain — and become a place where Kurds, Sunnis and Shiites can write their own social contract and live together with a modicum of stability, it could one day become a strategic asset for the United States in the post-9/11 effort to promote different politics in the Arab-Muslim world.
……”If he [Obama] can pull this off, and help that decent Iraq take root, Obama and the Democrats could not only end the Iraq war but salvage something positive from it. Nothing would do more to enhance the Democratic Party’s national security credentials than that.”
“Salvage something positive from it”…Like the success of American troops who shoved the gauntlet up the ass of Islamic terrorists in Iraq and Afghanistan who were responsible for brutal attacks against the West, while you salivated for an American defeat?
The whole time you’ve been venting your left-wing spleen, Iraq took shape and the people already ‘live together with a modicum of stability’.
With this latest homage to the not yet in office Jesus Christ Obamessiah, you’re already giving him unearned credit for success we Soldiers accomplished under a Bush administration you vilified.
For the last five years, you and your comrades at the New York Times declared the war ‘unwinnable’. You reported every angle of the al Qaeda and Taliban perspective. You printed some of the most vile, yellow journalism, toward American troops fighting a war against Islamic thugs hellbent on making the planet into a Caliphate.
You waited until the election to heap anticipatory praise on an untested, inexperienced, corrupt, nihilist idiot. You waited all this time to finally admit for the sake of “Hope, Change” and restoration of the Democrats’ “national security credentials”, that it would not be a good idea lose a war we’ve already won.
Newsflash, Friedman. It’s going to take a hell of a lot more than kicking ass in Iraq and Afghanistan “to promote different politics in the Arab-Muslim world”. Terrorists are bred, trained, funded, and supported across the Middle East. They manufacture jihadists like god damned assembly line parts.
And it’s going to take a lot more than the ‘negotiating without preconditions’, diplomatic patty-cake Obama wants to try.
This war ain’t over by a long shot. It’ll take a strong, capable, military savvy, pro-American, anti-Islamofascist at the helm to ensure the continued success in Iraq and Afghanistan. It will take a brave, unwavering leader to know the differences between diplomacy, flirting with love-struck Europeans, and appeasing potential enemies. It will take a President who understands that the radical Islamic threat against America here and abroad has to be eliminated.
Obamessiah can’t pull that off.
