Cybersecurity experts who held lucrative Pentagon and homeland security contracts and high-level security clearances are under investigation for potentially abusing their government privileges to aid a 2016 Clinton campaign plot to falsely link Donald Trump to Russia and trigger an FBI investigation of him and his campaign, according to several sources familiar with the work of Special Counsel John Durham.
Durham is investigating whether they were involved in a scheme to misuse sensitive, nonpublic Internet data, which they had access to through their government contracts, to dredge up derogatory information on Trump on behalf of the Clinton campaign in 2016 and again in 2017, sources say — political dirt that sent FBI investigators on a wild goose chase. Prosecutors are also investigating whether some of the data presented to the FBI was faked or forged.
Former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe says he’s given John Durham, special counsel investigating the Russia collusion probe, a trove of documents that he thinks support charges beyond those recently filed against cybersecurity lawyer Michael Sussman.
“Sussmann’s is the first of what I would hope would be a number” of additional people charged, he told Fox News on Sunday.
Ratcliffe made the argument on what he said was “1,000 intelligence community documents” that he thinks support additional charges that he would “expect” Durham to bring, in addition to the declassified documents he’s provided.
Special counsel John Durham is expected to indict Clinton-connected attorney Michael Sussmann for lying to the FBI during a meeting discussing suspicions of spurious connections between then-President Donald Trump and Russia, The New York Times reports.
“The case against Mr. Sussmann centers on the question of who his client was when he conveyed certain suspicions about Mr. Trump and Russia to the FBI in September 2016,” the Times reports. Sussmann was allegedly connected to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign through his work at law firm Perkins Coie.
“Among other things, investigators have examined whether Mr. Sussmann was secretly working for the Clinton campaign — which he denies.”
A five year statute of limitations on the case forces Durham to bring forth the charges in the coming days; however, Sussmann’s lawyers told the Times that if their client is indicted he will claim his innocence.
During the meeting with the FBI, “Sussmann relayed data and analysis from cybersecurity researchers who thought that odd internet data might be evidence of a covert communications channel between computer servers associated with the Trump Organization and with Alfa Bank, a Kremlin-linked Russian financial institution,” The New York Times reports.
“The FBI eventually decided those concerns had no merit. The special counsel who later took over the Russia investigation, Robert S. Mueller III, ignored the matter in his final report.”
What the fuck is Durham doing? He’s got an entire Obama regime to investigate for high crimes and misdemeanors.
