House Speaker Kevin McCarthy sent colleagues a letter Tuesday evening laying out five grounds justifying the start of an impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden, ranging from making false statements to the American people to helping enrich his family by conducting meetings and phone calls that furthered his son’s foreign business deals as vice president.
“Simply put, the American people deserve to know that public offices are not for sale and that the federal government is not being used to cover up the actions of a politically-connected family,” McCarthy wrote in a “Dear Colleagues” letter sent just hours after he crossed the critical threshold of approving an inquiry into whether the House should pursue articles of impeachment.

Impeachment-Inquiry-Announcement.pdfAmid partisan howls and recriminations from congressional Democrats and the White House, McCarthy scheduled a meeting of the House GOP caucus for Thursday and laid out in plain, simple terms five justifications for the inquiry:
Biden made false statements to the Americans public to get elected and since he took office, including denying his family did not get money from communist China when in fact it got millions
The president facilitated his family’s enrichment as Barack Obama’s vice president by joining phone calls and meetings with his son Hunter’s business associates. “Eyewitness testimony revealed that the President joined multiple phone calls and had various interactions with his son’s business partners,” he wrote.
Biden presided over a family that collected nearly $20 million in foreign proceeds – some from oligarchs of concern to U.S. – and had more than 150 banking transactions flagged as suspicious.
The FBI received information in 2020 – yet to be corroborated or debunked – that Biden was the beneficiary of a $10 million bribe from a Ukrainian company called Burisma Holdings that was under investigation for corruption and who had hired his son. The allegation is concerning because there also is evidence Biden “used his official office to coordinate with Hunter Biden’s business partner about Hunter’s role in Burisma” during a time when the former vice president withheld a $1 billion U.S. loan guarantee to force the firing of the Ukrainian prosecutor investigating Burisma.
Since becoming president, his administration has taken actions to thwart or minimize potential investigation and prosecution of Hunter Biden on criminal charges, including a “sweetheart plea deal that President Biden’s Department of Justice tried to sneak past the public” this summer before a judge rejected it.
McCarthy stressed that an inquiry is not a formal impeachment but rather a mechanism for determining in the future whether articles of impeachment for high crimes and misdemeanors are warranted.
“These allegations should concern every American, regardless of political party,” McCarthy’s letter declared. “Taken together, they paint a picture of a culture of corruption, obstruction, and abuse of power that rises to the level of formal investigation.
“House Republicans are committed to getting answers and finding the truth – nothing more, nothing less. We will go wherever the evidence takes us,” he added.
The letter praised three House committee chairmen — Reps. James Comer of the Oversight Committee, Jim Jordan of the Judiciary Committee and Jason Smith of the Ways and Means Committee — for turning up significant evidence to justify an inquiry, including from two IRS whistleblowers and former Hunter Biden business associate Devon Archer.
The White House legal office sent a letter Wednesday to several media outlets calling for “scrutiny of House Republicans” over the impeachment inquiry of Joe Biden that was announced by Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) on Tuesday.
The letter by Biden scandal spokesman Ian Sams with the White House Counsel’s office was first reported Tuesday night by CNN’s Oliver Darcy who was given a draft copy (excerpt):
“It’s time for the media to ramp up its scrutiny of House Republicans for opening an impeachment inquiry based on lies,” Ian Sams, a spokesperson for the White House Counsel’s Office, wrote in the letter, according to a draft copy obtained by CNN.
The letter, which said an impeachment inquiry with no supporting evidence should “set off alarm bells for news organizations,” will be sent to executives helming the nation’s largest news organizations, including CNN, The New York Times, Fox News, the Associated Press, CBS News, and others, a White House official familiar with the matter said.
…“And in the modern media environment, where every day liars and hucksters peddle disinformation and lies everywhere from Facebook to Fox, process stories that fail to unpack the illegitimacy of the claims on which House Republicans are basing all their actions only serve to generate confusion, put false premises in people’s feeds, and obscure the truth,” Sams added.

The message is curious and concerning, particularly in the aggressive role being played by the White House Counsel’s office under Stuart Frank Delery.
First, as I have previously noted, the White House is now actively involved in pushing narratives and denying factual allegations linked to the Biden corruption scandal. That could create Nixonian-type allegations of the abuse of office in the use of federal employees to counter impeachment efforts.
Second, the letter was drafted by Ian Sams, a spokesperson for the White House Counsel’s Office. So White House lawyers are now enlisting the media in a counter media campaign against impeachment? The letter removes any pretense of separation between the Biden personal legal team and the White House Counsel’s office…
…The letter has an uncomfortable feeling of marching orders to the media. This is a media that followed the lead of Biden associates in spreading the false story that the Hunter laptop was Russian disinformation.
This is the media that refused to acknowledge the authenticity of the laptop until only recently — long after the presidential election.
This was the media that only recently admitted that President Biden has been lying about denials related to his son’s influence peddling.
Yet, the White House is now calling for the media to again form the wagons around the President and attack the impeachment effort as it did the laptop and the corruption investigation.
Once again, what is most disturbing is that the White House shows no reluctance or concern in making such an open pitch to the press. There is a sense of license in using the media as an extension of the White House press push. The fact that this is a representative of the White House counsel’s office is particularly chilling. This is not the press office but the counsel for the President calling on media to form a unified front against the Republicans and the impeachment inquiry.
The letter is an alarming erosion of separation of the White House Counsel’s office from the Biden defense team. It also confirms an active and aggressive role of White House officials in swatting down allegations against the President. While the staff obviously is not expected to be neutral on impeachment, there is a careful line that past White House counsels have walked between fulfilling their duties to the office as opposed to the officeholder.
The DOJ, FBI, and a compliant liberal media have been covering for Biden’s crimes over the last 3 years. Now that their installed puppet has become too much of an embarrassment, at least one CNN hack made a surprising comment:
Joe Biden knew about the deals and was an active participant. He’s ass deep in the corruption.
Their crimes are extensive and well documented on the laptop.
The evidence collected from Hunter Biden’s laptop is more than enough to indict and convict Joe, Hunter, and most of the immediate family. Hunter was operating as a bagman for the ‘Big Guy’, collecting and funneling money to his father. Federal agents know they have sufficient evidence to charge the Bidens with felonies, which they buried to protect them.
If these crimes were committed by a Republican’s family, the liberal media conglomerate would have spent every waking minute covering the the scandals..
Just like the Bidens.
McCarthy finally got off his ass and started an impeachment query. Great. If the GOP has a spine, they will see this through to criminal charges.
