Merrick Garland Gets Grilled on Capitol Hill

Fox News

Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., grilled Attorney General Merrick Garland over the FBI raid on a pro-life Christian man and asked whether the Department of Justice (DOJ) had an “anti-Catholic bias.”

“Our department protects all religions, all ideologies. It does not have any bias against any religion of any kind,” Garland said, fielding the question from Hawley during Wednesday’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.

Hawley then characterized the DOJ as an agency quick to expend resources and intelligence to be deployed against Catholics while “turning a blind eye” as people are executed in the streets of American cities.

“Your answer frankly surprises me,” Hawley added.

Garland lied his ass off. The FBI doubled down on Christians and “white supremacy” as noted in their internal memos, which were redacted after they were made public:

“Why did the FBI do this?” Hawley asked Garland face-to-face during the Senate hearing. “Why did you send 20-30 SWAT-style agents, SWAT-style team to this guy’s house when everybody else had declined to prosecute and he offered to turn himself in?”

Garland said FBI agents on the ground determined how to engage with Houck in the “safest” and easiest way, adding that agents disagreed with Hawley’s description of what happened at the scene. A senior FBI source previously told Fox News that there may have been 15-20 agents at the scene but denied 25 were there.

Hawley then asked if it was “objectively necessary” based on established protocol to send agents with long guns and ballistic shields to the home where Houck’s wife and children were at the time of the approach.

Garland again stated the decision was made by FBI agents on the ground. When Hawley asked if he was “abdicating responsibility,” Garland said no.

“Then give me the answer. Do you think, in your opinion, you are the attorney general of the United States. You are in charge of the Justice Department and yes, sir, you are responsible. So give me an answer.”

The two went back and forth for over a minute. Hawley repeatedly pushed for an answer from Garland on whether he thought the FBI raid was “reasonable,” but Garland punted the question and merely suggested the facts were not as Hawley described.

Garland is lying under oath. The US Marshalls should always be on hand to escort lying officials off to a jail cell until they come clean.

An FBI whistleblower confirmed that the agency intentionally labeled anti-abortion groups as ‘threats’:

The FBI created a threat tag following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade last year, but it later “shifted” to focus on pro-life individuals, an agent-turned-whistleblower told the House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.

FBI Special Agent Garret O’Boyle, from the Wichita Resident Agency in the Kansas City Field Office, also said the FBI made him divide one domestic terrorism case into “four different cases,” in what he described as an effort by the bureau to be able to show Congress an influx of domestic terrorism cases.

……O’Boyle said the FBI created the threat tag “THREATSTOSCOTUS2022” after the high court’s decision on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which overturned the 1973 landmark Roe v. Wade and returned the issue of abortion to the states.

After the ruling, O’Boyle said he felt the use of the threat tag was “legitimate” because “threatening a Supreme Court official is a violation of federal crime.” The FBI has used such tags to monitor similar cases on a large scope.

But, O’Boyle said this threat tag “shifted and began focusing in on pro-life adherence.”

“When this threat tag came out, it was like, why are you focusing on pro-life people?” O’Boyle told the panel, according to a transcript reviewed exclusively by Fox News Digital. “It’s pro-choice people who are the ones protesting or otherwise threatening violence in front of Supreme Court justices’ houses.”

O’Boyle said the FBI wanted agents to “look into” what the bureau called “pregnancy centers.”

O’Boyle said he was confused to why agents would need to “talk to these people about threats.”

“If somebody is going to be getting threatened, it would be them, because people thought that abortion was suddenly outlawed, which, that wasn’t the case either, it was just remanded back to the states,” O’Boyle said, adding that the assignment “struck me as odd at the time.”

O’Boyle said he later was given a “request for collection,” and was instructed to ask his confidential human source, who he said was pro-life, “a bunch of questions about the threats to the Supreme Court.”

“And even when I got that, I was like, why would this person know about those threats? He’s pro-life,” O’Boyle continued. “Like, he’s not the one going and threatening the Supreme Court justices.”

……When asked if he felt the FBI was using and creating threat tags in a politicized way, O’Boyle said: “I do.”

Meanwhile, with regard to the domestic terrorism cases, O’Boyle said the division of one case into multiple separate cases gave the FBI the opportunity to go to Congress and say “look at all the domestic terrorism we’ve investigated.”

……O’Boyle claimed the FBI retaliated against him for making protected disclosures to Congress.

When O’Boyle was suspended, he claimed the FBI prevented him from retrieving his personal belongings that were in storage with a company contracted by the FBI in Virginia. O’Boyle estimated that he spent approximately $10,000 to retrieve his personal belongings from the FBI storage.

O’Boyle told the panel he felt the FBI “was being weaponized against agents or anybody who wanted to step forward and talk about malfeasance inside the agency prior to this.”

The FBI ignored the real threats when leftwing protesters made death threats, rioted and attacked pregnancy centers, and paraded in front of the homes of SCOTUS members.

By the way:

More:

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, got into a heated exchange with Attorney General Merrick Garland during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday.

Cruz accused Garland of politicizing the Justice Department and prosecuting pro-life groups and conservatives more aggressively than liberal groups. Cruz cited mass protests outside the homes of conservative Supreme Court justices after the Dobbs v. Jackson decision leaked last year.

“Have you brought a single case against any of these protesters threatening [Justice Brett Kavanaugh]? Have you brought even one?” Cruz asked.

……”Let me try again. Has the Department of Justice brought even a single case under the statute? It’s a yes-no question. It’s not an [invitation to] give a speech on those other things you did,” Cruz said.

“The jobs of the United States Marshals is to defend the lives of—” Garland said, once again getting cut off.

“So the answer is no,” Cruz said, taking over Garland. “The answer is no. Why aren’t you willing to say no? You know it’s no; I know it’s no; everyone in this hearing room knows it’s no. You’re not willing to answer the question. Have you brought a case under the statute, yes or no?”

“As far as I know, we haven’t,” Garland responded. “What we have done is defended the lives of the justices with 70 U.S. Marshals.”

This is too laughable. Garland says they don’t prosecute Antifa attacks because they frequently occur at night:

“Those who are attacking the pregnancy resource centers … are doing this at night in the dark. These people who are doing it are clever and are doing it in secret.”

So why even bother to investigate and hunt them down? It’s too dark and scary.

This cretin is the US Attorney General. Let that sink in.

Garland was also questioned about the DOJ’s role in covering up the Hunter Biden laptop and crimes:

Attorney General Merrick Garland vowed that the federal investigation into Hunter Biden’s business dealings would be free from political influence during a heated Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday.

Garland has pledged before not to interfere in Delaware U.S. Attorney David C. Weiss’ probe into Hunter Biden and his foreign business dealings, which are currently under both federal and congressional investigations.

But Garland has come under scrutiny for not elevating Weiss to special counsel status to ensure his independence. On Wednesday, Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, pressed Garland on what would happen if Weiss needed to pursue the case against Biden outside his Delaware jurisdiction.

Garland conceded that Weiss would have to refer the case to another district in that instance, though he maintained that the decision on whether to make an outside referral is entirely up to Weiss.

“[I]f it’s in another district, he would have to bring the case in another district,” Garland said. “But as I said, I promise to ensure that he’s able to carry out his investigation and that he’d be able to run it. And if he needs to bring it in another jurisdiction, he will have full authority to do that.”

Grassley replied by pointing out that the possibility of a referral means it could be up to a Biden appointee to pursue the case outside Delaware. If Weiss, the U.S. attorney there in Delaware, must seek permission from a Biden-appointed U.S. attorney to bring charges, then the Hunter Biden criminal investigation isn’t insulated from political interference as you have publicly proclaimed,” he said.

Grassley also asked Garland if Weiss could more effectively bring charges against Hunter Biden if he were made a special counsel.

“It’s kind of a complicated question,” the attorney general replied, adding that such a decision would have to be brought to him first. “I would then have to, you know, authorize it and permit it to be brought in the jurisdiction — and that is exactly what I promised to do here.”

In his closing question, Grassley pressed Garland on whether he believed “improper or unlawful” payments from a foreign government to “elected officials or other politically-exposed persons” would constitute a national security concern.

“If it’s an agent of a foreign government asking someone and paying someone to do things to support that foreign government in secret, yes, I definitely think that would be a national security problem,” Garland said.

The DOJ and FBI haven’t investigated a fucking thing against their protected groups and individuals.

By now, it should be apparent that every time an FBI or DOJ official says: “I can’t discuss matters under investigation” and “I don’t know or I don’t recall”, they’re committing perjury.

The Biden’s are a national security problem of epic proportions. Their financial ties to Beijing and ChiCom spies should have resulted in several indictments. They committed treason for profit.

Hunter Biden’s laptop contains a mountain of evidence proving the family’s influence peddling and shady business deals.

Joe Biden is ass deep in this.  Hunter was operating as a bagman for the ‘Big Guy’, collecting and funneling money to his father. Federal agents know they have sufficient evidence to charge the Bidens with felonies, which they buried to protect them.
If that laptop belonged to the son of a Republican president, the liberal media conglomerate would have spent every waking minute covering the contents.
The DOJ should have had Joe, Hunter, Jim, and all of their cohorts on trial by now. The fact is, the DOJ is politicized and rotten to the core with malfeasance.

Just like the Bidens.

Government agencies have been politized and weaponized against American citizens who stand up to the tyranny of the Dem ruling class.

The FBI and the DOJ need to be dismantled from the top down. The criminal malfeasants in both agencies should be indicted and prosecuted. We know that won’t happen because agencies weaponized by Dem regimes trample all over the Constitution while Congress does nothing. All the hot air and indignation during oversight hearings are a dog and pony show.
