America Called Bullshit on the Hackneyed Epithets and Arrogance of the Left

From The Spectator.

Barack Obama’s signature phrase, “the audacity of hope,” came from a black nationalist, Jeremiah Wright. Obama stocked his administration with black nationalists, delivered speeches to openly separatist black colleges and associations, rolled out the red carpet for Al Sharpton, encouraged the reverse racism of “Black Lives Matter,” and rationalized the behavior of athletes who protested the American flag. None of this qualified as “ethno-nationalism” in the eyes of the media. They reserve that smear for conservatives who oppose hyphenated Americanism. Those who talk about race the least get hit with the charge of racism the most.

We’re told that Trump is surrounding himself with “bomb-throwers.” Like who? Bill Ayers? In Obama’s case, the charge was literal. He blurbed the book of a domestic terrorist and launched his political career in his living room. In Trump’s case, the charge is figurative, but the Left expects Americans to tremble even more.

Wright, at the height of his black nationalism, baptized Obama and officiated at his wedding. Obama sat in his pews as he defamed America. Yet a media that managed to ignore all of this endeavored to make Trump look like a regular attendee at Klan meetings. One would have thought from the frenzied coverage that David Duke had officiated at Trump’s wedding. In fact, Trump had no association with racists and earned the exhausted epithets of the Left for nothing more than opposing its open-borders ideology.

Now, having failed to stop Trump, the Left turns to a new smear campaign against his aides. In the wake of Hillary’s defeat, a few liberals questioned the tactic of describing half the country as “deplorables” and treating any disagreement with liberal ideology as evidence of “racism.” But those doubts didn’t last long. Trump’s selection of Stephen Bannon as his chief White House strategist and senior counselor has liberals gasping anew. They point to him as a singularly sinister “white nationalist,” whose Breitbart News Network reeks of racism. But in their hastily assembled “five worst things he has said” lists, one doesn’t find any racism. All one finds is robust disagreement with the assumptions of liberalism. So what?

The reeds on which they hang their charge of racism grow thinner and thinner. In the absence of any damning quotes from Bannon, they had to cast about for supposedly shocking headlines from Breitbart, such as “Hoist It High and Proud: The Confederate Flag Proclaims a Glorious Heritage.” But if you click on that article, it goes to a column in which the author rejects racism and celebrates the military valor of Robert E. Lee. That is the heritage to which the article refers. In the absence of any racist headlines, they sought to prove Bannon’s “racism” by checking “the reader comments” on Breitbart.

……The American people can be excused for seeing all of this as a show about nothing. The Left’s trivialization of the charge of racism only made it easier for Trump to win. Previous GOP candidates lived in dread fear of the media’s PC mau-mauing. Trump didn’t and ended up getting a higher percentage of the Black and Hispanic vote than Romney. While Hillary wrote off half the country as a basket of deplorables, Trump turned up in inner cities. Obama and other Hillary surrogates mocked him for his “Make America Great Again” slogan, but next to the “God damn America”-style multiculturalism of the Left, Trump’s simple nationalism looked less scary than sane.

The Dems have been stripped of power.  During Obama’s 8 year regime,  Democrats have lost 900+ state legislature seats, 12 governors, 69 House seats, and 13 Senate seats.

After 40 years of Dems using accusations of bigotry, sexism, racism, and  exploiting minorities,  Americans are fed up with the shit. It’s worn thin.

Furthermore, even the readers of the leftwing rag New York Times, voiced their displeasure at the liberal echo chamber and the Times’ ignoring Hillary’s corruption.

The cult status of their idols wasn’t enough to push Hillary into the White House.

More from Reason:

Ever since Donald Trump won the presidential election, all eyes, and wringing hands, have been on the white blob who voted for him. These “loud, illiterate and credulous people,” as a sap at Salon brands them, think on an “emotional level.” Bill Moyers warned that ours is a “dark age of unreason,” in which “low information” folks are lining up behind “The Trump Emotion Machine.”  Andrew Sullivan said Trump supporters relate to him as a “cult leader fused with the idea of the nation.”

What’s funny about this is not simply that it’s the biggest chattering-class hissy fit of the 21st century so far — and chattering-class hissy fits are always funny. It’s that whatever you think of Trump (I’m not a fan) or his supporters (I think they’re mostly normal, good people), the fact is they’ve got nothing on the Clinton cult when it comes to creepy, pious worship of a politician.

By the Cult of Hillary Clinton, I don’t mean the nearly 62 million Americans who voted for her. I have not one doubt that they are as mixed and normal a bag of people as the Trumpites are. No, I mean the Hillary machine—the celebs and activists and hacks who were so devoted to getting her elected and who have spent the past week sobbing and moaning over her loss. These people exhibit cult-like behavior far more than any Trump cheerer I’ve come across.

Trump supporters view their man as a leader “fused with the idea of the nation”? Perhaps some do, but at least they don’t see him as “light itself.” That’s how Clinton was described in the subhead of a piece for Lena Dunham’s Lenny Letter. “Maybe [Clinton] is more than a president,” gushed writer Virginia Heffernan. “Maybe she is an idea, a world-historical heroine, light itself,” Nothing this nutty has been said by any of Trump’s media fanboys.

“Hillary is Athena,” Heffernan continued, adding that “Hillary did everything right in this campaign… She cannot be faulted, criticized, or analyzed for even one more second.”

That’s a key cry of the Cult of Hillary (as it is among followers of L. Ron Hubbard or devotees of Christ): our gal is beyond criticism, beyond the sober and technical analysis of mere humans. Michael Moore, in his movie Trumpland, looked out at his audience and, with voice breaking, said: “Maybe Hillary could be our Pope Francis.”

The Cult of the Black Jesus Obama was even worse. An infatuated male CNN correspondent wrote love letters to Obama and kept an archive.  Evan Thomas deified him.  Brian Williams usually brought knee pads for Obama interviews.  Chris Matthews got ‘a thrill going up his leg’ every time he heard Obama speak.  Curtis Sittenfeld, ( a female by the way)  loves, loves, loves Obamessiah so much, she’d suck his dick if she had the chance.  It’s some of the most disturbing, perverted behavior ever displayed by leftwing media.

Their adoration of Hillary, as pathetic and maudlin as it is, comes in second to Obama’s.

The bottom line is the very Middle Class working America and patriots that the Left and RINO elites hate and vilify, has just thrown a big middle finger in their face.
