Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif) wants to ban conservative news from being broadcast to U.S. troops but says networks such as CNN and MSNBC are acceptable forms of information.
During an interview on MSNBC, host Katie Phang expressed several concerns about the ongoing Dominion voting system lawsuit against Fox News, asking if Congress should get involved.
“Have there been any discussions in Congress about congressional oversight, regulations, and the FCC getting involved? Phang asked. “I know we all respect the First Amendment, Congressman, but should there be some type of gatekeeping that happens so that this doesn’t happen again?”
In response, Swalwell suggested banning Fox News from the military bases may be in the cards. However, he did acknowledge the idea might not go over well since the network is popular among service members.
“Nothing makes them feel more like home than their access to American television programming,” Swalwell said. “I don’t want to get in the business of telling troops what they can and cannot watch. But, if you have a news station that a court is going to rule is, in its evening hour, you know, perpetuating dis- and misinformation, I don’t know if I disagree with VoteVets, who was saying that we need to take a look at, you know, how this is being broadcast to our troops.”
Swalwell referenced a recent call from the political action committee VoteVets to ban Fox News on military installations.
A background on VoteVets from the Center for Public Integrity:
Vote Vets Action Fund, a liberal “dark money” nonprofit that’s raised millions to ostensibly advance pro-veteran causes, is prohibited from engaging in politics as its “primary purpose.”
But the group nevertheless spent more than half the money it raised in fiscal year 2014 on “direct or indirect political campaign activities,” according to new tax filings reviewed by the Center for Public Integrity.
Such activity is legal because Vote Vets Action Fund’s campaign spending made up less than half the group’s overall expenditures for fiscal year 2014.
It reported spending a total of about $7.6 million during the period that included the 2014 election, making the political spending only about 41 percent of total spending. The group spent more than it took in, leaving it with net assets of $1.5 million at the end of 2014.
……In all, Vote Vets Action Fund in 2014 raised more than $5.5 million from 52 contributors, none of whom it identified voluntarily. Its two largest donors — who gave $805,000 and $735,000 respectively — provided more than one-fourth of the group’s income in fiscal 2014, tax filings indicate.
As for Swalwell, he thinks the government will ‘nuke’ gun owners who refuse to hand over their firearms. The ChiCom spy he slept with raised funds for his 2014 reelection and helped place an intern in his office, according to Axios.
And he was booted from the House Intelligence Committee.
The bulk of the analysis and reporting slant at NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, CNN and MSNBC, is leftwing. Their propaganda is presented as “news” with little or no challenge to their claims. Fox News provides a substantial counterpoint, with high ratings to boot, and that scares the shit out of the MSM elites. Matter of fact, Fox News’ ratings are consistently higher than the other networks. Biden and his media tools are infuriated that Fox News is the one holdout; the one network they can’t control or get to cooperate with the Party Line.
Leftwing totalitarians have decided that free speech is a ‘threat to democracy’; an accusation they reserve for viewpoints and facts that refute their ideology. They hooked up with the corrupt apparatchiks at the FBI and DOJ to suppress the J6 protest footage, the Russian collusion hoax, and the incriminating evidence on Hunter Biden’s laptop.
Every three-letter weaponized agency in the Swamp dictated which social media accounts to ban and posts to censor. They teamed up with Big Tech to control information, free speech, and debate. The Dems did their part, as well.
The real menace to our democratic republic is the hostile leftwing media, corrupt Dems, and their weaponized government agencies that target American citizens.
‘Disinformation’ is what the government autocracy says it is.
“Free speech” is what the leftwing cabal says it is.
